Duffy Biography She was born Aimee Ann Duffy in Bangor, Gwynedd, Wales and raised in the small coastal town of Nefyn on the Llyn Peninsula in North Wales. Duffy began singing at an early age and performed in several bands throughout her teens she also appeared on Wawffactor, a Welsh television talent show. In 2004 after meeting with Jeannette Lee, owner of Rough Trade Records, she was introduced to ex Suede guitarist Bernard Butler. They wrote several songs together for the album Rockferry and on 23 November 2007 Duffy was signed to A&M Records.
